Barnet and Southgate College partnership

We are delighted to have entered into a partnership with Barnet and Southgate College, which offers a wide variety of courses for students who would prefer a more vocational route post-GCSE.

The college is based across three campuses in Barnet, Southgate and Colindale, and is renowned for its broad range of courses and the high quality of its teaching. It offers over 1500 full and part time courses including A levels, foundation degrees, professional qualifications and vocational studies. Its core aim, as described by principal David Byrne, is to help its students move ‘from not knowing to a career.’

As a result, the college has a strong focus on employability and enterprise, having built partnerships with organisations such as the Peter Jones Academy. The college also hosts the Reed NCFE Employment Zone on its Barnet campus, and offers a broad range of student support services such as mentors, counsellors, work experience co-ordinators and careers advisors working closely with Careers Coach, matching courses to careers.

Priority admissions for Archer Academy students

Under the terms of the partnership, any Archer Academy students who meet the expected criteria for their courses will be given priority admission into Year 12 at Barnet and Southgate College, as long as they:

  • apply before the closing date
  • are recommended by the school
  • have predicted grades which meet the college’s minimum criteria for the courses chosen, and subsequently achieve those grades
  • are suitable for the chosen course
  • enrol promptly, either on GCSE results day or as close to

The minimum criteria vary from course to course, and change year on year.  You can find more about each individual course and what its criteria are on the college’s website.

We are very excited about this new partnership and the opportunities it will offer our students, and are looking forward to developing our links with the college in the years ahead.
