Spring Term 2015
Your reading list for this term is based on titles that were nominated, shortlisted or finalists of the Carnegie award in 2014. The prestigious Carnegie award recognises outstanding authors of children’s literature every year and the winner in 2014 was The Bunker Diary by Kevin Brooks.
In order for an author to be nominated for the award, they have to have written a book enjoyed by many and recognised by judges as being important for children. It is often described by authors and illustrators as ‘the one they want to win’ – they are the gold standard in children’s literature. There are copies of all the below titles in the library.
We will be taking part in the Carnegie school project at the end of the spring term, when the 2015 nominations will be announced. Working your way through this reading list will prepare you well for some exciting challenge ahead.
Remember, if you read a book and write a detailed review on it, you will be rewarded with 10 house points. Please hand all completed reviews to your English teacher.
Enjoy!
