Celebrating Thematic Learning

This week we celebrated the Year 7’s creativity in their recent Thematic Learning unit on books. Their brief was to write a book for pre-readers and to try and incorporate some element of a modern foreign language. The students below made it to the shortlist – a reflection of the creativity and enthusiasm with which this homework task was executed!

The judges, our very own librarian Allison Applequist, Alex Antscherl from Hachette Publishing and Sanchita from Muswell Hill Children’s Bookshop were very impressed with the quality of the books but selected 3 overall winners.

Ananda’s book was recognised for her masterful inclusion of languages as her character adventured across continents. Jonah’s book was commended for its delightful message about the unlikely friendship between a spider and a fly and Zusanna’s was a joyous and colourful tale that the judges felt would appeal to her young audience.

All the finalists will be going to share their books with the toughest judges of all – year 1s at Holy Trinity over the next month. Watch this space to see how they receive our work!

Well done to all the year group and in particular to those were selected:

Samira, Sude, Eldjida, India, Dina, Jonah, Angela, Alessia, Thomas T, Zuzana, Barney, Ava, Oscar G, Daniel C, Charlie and Ananda.
