No doubt you are all busy preparing for your Summer holidays. One of the things that I most enjoy doing before I go on holiday is going to the book shop and choosing my holiday reads.

So what might attract your attention? I decided to see what the experts think eleven olds should have read and was delighted to discover some of my favourite books on their lists. Below are some reading suggestions and who has nominated them as worthy of your attention. Please do head down to the library or the book shop and see what you might want to take in your suitcase.

  • Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
  • Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi
  • Emil and the Detectives by Erich Kastner
  • Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome
